Some freelancers struggle to communicate with their co-workers. It is hard to for them stay on the same page.
“Human beings rely on nonverbal communication when they speak. But emails, phone calls, and even video calls remove much of the nuance on how we communicate. Just think back of the last time someone misinterpreted an email or text message you sent as a quick example”. --- moneycrashers.com
It’s absolutely true.
How to overcome communication challenges when working from home? Check some tips below.
Onboarding New Employees
One way to overcome these challenges is to give an onboarding process for new employees to have a clear, easy, and smooth process. Also, it saves time, you can read and follow those manuals and do the steps to have clear communication for everyone.
Listening skills are very effective in communication and understanding what the person says. Involve all your co-workers to use their voices to share their knowledge, ideas, perspectives, opinions, thoughts, and etc. If an employee can’t listen to any instructions that are given it may lead to delays of various tasks.
When you want to stay on the same page, stop assuming that all your messages are understandable. Give clear and brief instructions. Explaining is the process of communication. Before escalating to your members, make some draft of your message, check your tone, and read it 2-3 times.
Lack of Feedback
It’s okay to have bad feedback rather than no feedback at all. Don’t be sad when you receive bad feedback because it’s normal to have it. Instead, use this to push yourself to improve more. But no matter whether you have received good and bad feedback, it means that your co-workers or managers care for you. Remember this, lack of feedback can lead to demotivation in your work.
